Two dead, four injured, suspect in custody after shooting at UNC Charlotte

Two people are dead, four people were injured and the suspect was in custody after a shooting Tuesday evening on the last day of spring semester classes at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

The suspect has been identified as a 22-year-old student, according to local media outlets. The names of those killed and injured have not been released.

The shootings happened around 5:45 p.m. at the administrative building, Kennedy Hall, which is surrounded by other academic buildings, including Atkins Library.

A number of students from the Outer Banks attend the school on the northeast side of North Carolina’s largest city.
