Strange things wash up on the beach along the Outer Banks, particularly during and after storms.

Kill Devil Hills Ocean Rescue posted photos on Facebook this afternoon of a red nun channel marker buoy grounded in the northern part of town today.

A high surf advisory was in effect Tuesday as the remnants of Tropical Storm Arthur moved offshore, with large breaking waves of 7 to 10 feet in the surf zone.
