Powerschool, Canvas systems crash on first day of school in North Carolina

The statewide online system used to store and manage student information crashed on the first day of classes for North Carolina public and charter schools, where more than two-thirds of kids are going virtual only.

The NCEdCloud, which hosts the Powerschool, Canvas, Edgenuity and Schoolnet systems, went down sometime after 8 a.m.

“We’re experiencing the same issue.” Keith Parker, Digital Communications and Secondary School Director for Dare County Schools. “This does not impact students logging into the remote learning classrooms, but could impact students wanting to check their course schedule or grades.”

State internet technology personnel were working to restore the system, according to WRAL-TV.

“We hope to see the system back to full functionality within the day,” Parker said.
