Long period swells will continue to impact Outer Banks beaches bringing rough surf, beach erosion and minor ocean overwash due to a distant low pressure system, according to a briefing from the National Weather Service. (NOAA).

Surf height around 6 to 10 feet expected today with the largest surf around 8-12 feet still expected on Tuesday, then gradually subsiding Tuesday night into Wednesday.

The NOAA has extended the High Surf Advisory until 7 a.m. Wednesday for the beaches from Duck to Ocracoke.
