A strong cold front is expected to impact eastern North Carolina Wednesday through Thursday morning, according to an update from the National Weather Service issued today.
Primary impacts will be intense winds, as well as the risk for severe thunderstorms in the form of damaging winds and isolated tornadoes.
Winds are expected Wednesday morning through Thursday afternoon, with winds peaking near midnight Thursday. Thunderstorms are expected Wednesday evening through early Thursday morning.
A gale watch has been issued for all offshore waters and the Pamlico Sound, in addition to a small craft advisory for the Albemarle, Croatan and Roanoke Sounds and all inland rivers.
