Dare Arts announces a call for entry for the 26th Annual Mollie Fearing Memorial Art Show, which will open on Sunday, May 7 at their Gallery in downtown Manteo.
Artists wishing to participate in this year’s exhibition can find a prospectus and sign up for a specific time to drop off their work online at DareArts.org/molliefearingshow.
Ceramicist Ashley Paskov from Columbia, NC will judge this year’s show. Ashley began taking ceramic classes at Connecticut State University, where she received her BA in Ceramics in 2015. She went on to receive her Masters in Fine Arts in ceramics from Edinboro University in 2022. This past summer she began her work as an Assistant Professor at College of the Albemarle and the Ceramic Studio Coordinator at Pocosin Arts School of Fine Craft, where she helps to introduce art to the surrounding communities and virtually through online classes. Ashley’s work has been featured in exhibitions and museums across the country including Wildfire
Ceramic Studio in Missoula, MT, Applied Contemporary Gallery in Oakland, CA, Erie Art Museum in St. Erie, PA, and the New Britain Museum of American Art in New Britain, CT.
“I am thrilled to be jurying the Mollie Fearing Memorial Art Show,” said artist Ashley Paskov. “I love connecting with my surrounding artistic community, and I cannot wait to see the innovative artwork created by Dare County artists!”
The show is held in memory of Mollie A. Fearing, one of the founders of Dare Arts, and is known for showcasing vibrant, eclectic artwork.
The opening reception will be held on Sunday, May 7 from 2pm to 4pm in Dare Arts’ Courtroom Gallery, and is free and open to the public. Award recipients will be announced at the reception and reception guests will vote by ballot for the People’s Choice award recipient.
The show will be open for viewing during normal Gallery hours from May 9 through May 27.
