First Flight High School employee arrested on gun, drug charges

On March 2, 2023 at approximately 8:30 am, Dare County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations and Narcotics Divisions were at First Flight High School referenced an investigation.

The investigation led the Sheriff’s Office to have Kill Devil Hills Police Department assist by running a K-9 around a vehicle in the school parking lot. The K-9 alerted to the presence of a controlled substance and a search of the vehicle was conducted.

During the search an amount of marijuana and a handgun were located and seized. Kurtlin Jovan Moore, 26, Columbia, NC, was arrested and charged with (F) Possession of a Gun on an Education Property and (M) Possession of Marijuana. Moore was given a $7,500 secured bond.

Moore was an employee at the school.
