Kitty Hawk deemed the #1 place to buy a summer beach house, according to Architectural Digest

With the summer season approaching, beach towns see a boost in the local economy, property values, and overall community engagement.

Ahead of the 2023 summer season season, Architectural Digest rated the top 74 beach towns in the United States based on home value, weather data, dining, entertainment and air pollution.

According to their findings, the Outer Banks’ very own Kitty Hawk was shown to be the #1 place to buy a summer beach house.

“Kitty Hawk’s natural beauty, historic charm, and bustling restaurants have certainly caught the attention of more Americans in recent years, with the median home value increasing more than 5% from April 2022 to April 2023,” states Architectural Digest.

The main findings from the study reveal that Kitty Hawk ranked well because of its dining and entertainment amenities per capita, as well as a low ranking in air pollution and average number of extreme weather days.

In addition, Ocracoke would secure the #6 spot on the listicle. Noted for it’s “untouched aesthetic” despite the lack of any oceanfront properties, Architectural Digest adds, “The village features plenty of restaurants and entertainment establishments (roughly 38 and 11 per 10,000 people, respectively), which helped Ocracoke land a spot in the top 10.”
