Severe thunderstorms possible this afternoon into tonight

The National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City has reported that there is potential for severe weather today, June 12, associated with an approaching cold front which will cross the area tonight.

The primary threat associated with severe storms will be damaging winds, but large hail and an isolated tornado remain possible.

Timing for the event is noon today until 11 p.m. The best chances will be this afternoon through this evening.
