Anglers across the area are counting down to the biggest offshore fishing tournaments of the year on the Outer Banks, as the 34th Alice Kelly Memorial Ladies Only Billfish Tournament and the 40th Pirates Cove Billfish Tournament are set to return this August.
Registration will begin for the Alice Kelly Memorial Ladies Only Billfish Tournament—the largest lady angler tournament in the world—on Saturday, August 12 at the Pirate’s Cove Marina Pavilion, followed by the kick off date on Sunday, August 13.
The 40th Annual Pirate’s Cove Billfish is set to kick off directly afterward on Monday, August 14 with fishing through Friday, August 18.
If you plan a visit to the Pirate’s Cove Marina Pavilion at any time during the events, you are encouraged park under the bridge at the boat ramp and stroll around the docks from the southside due to the crowd size.
To stay up-to-date on all the offshore action, visit fishpiratescove.com for updates and to watch the weigh-ins. Charity raffle tickets for both tournaments may also be purchased at the given website, including a chance to win one of 4 YETI 85 Ice Tanks filled with all sorts of hunting and fishing goodies.
The Interfaith Community Outreach – Cancer Program directly benefits from the Alice Kelly, and the Pirates Cove supports a number of local charities.
