FamilyDestinationsGuide.com recently surveyed 3,000 families, asking them which summer events they would most like to attend in 2023. The upcoming Outer Banks Pirate Festival was designated the #46 spot out of a whopping 100 choices across the nation.
In the travel outlet’s recent July 18 listicle, “Summer Sizzle: American Families’ Favorite Summer Events of 2023,” contributor Rose Ackermann would note the following:
Families can immerse themselves in the captivating world of pirates, where they can encounter colorful characters, witness exciting reenactments, and explore a lively pirate village. The festival features live entertainment, including sword-fighting demonstrations, interactive shows, and pirate-themed games and activities for children. Families can dress up in pirate attire, search for hidden treasure, and learn about the rich maritime history of the Outer Banks.
Hosted annually by Kitty Hawk Kites, the free family-friendly event is dedicated to teaching young scallywags the history of pirates relevant to the Outer Banks, including Blackbeard, and offers the opportunity to see if your little ones have what it takes to be a part of Captain Teach’s crew.
The 2023 Outer Banks Pirate Festival is set for August 9 – August 10, 2023. To learn more about the event, click here.
