The 2024 annual bow hunting season (bow and arrow only, no crossbows) is coming up in September. Designed to manage the deer herd and to ensure the herd’s health, The Nature Conservancy allows bow hunting for white-tailed deer in the Nags Head Woods Preserve. The regular hunting season runs September 9, 2023 through January 1, 2024.
Interested hunters must attend a scheduled orientation session, complete an application form and pay a $50 fee (cash and check only). Orientation sessions are held at Nags Head Woods Preserve (701 West Ocean Acres Drive, Kill Devil Hills.)
