A young Nags Head visitor was pulled unresponsive from a motel pool over the weekend.
Nags Head’s Police and Fire Departments responded to the Colonial Inn at 3329 South Virgina Dare Trail at approximately 11:07 am Sunday, August 6. When they arrived, a ten-year-old Chapel Hill, North Carolina boy was being given CPR by good Samaritans. Rescue efforts were re-initiated by the first responders, but to no avail.
The boy was transported by Dare County EMS personnel to the Outer Banks Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The incident is under investigation, but charges are not expected currently.
The Town requests that the public keep the boy’s family and friends in their thoughts during this difficult time and thanks the good Samaritans and Dare County EMS for their assistance with this call.
