The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has reported a total of three drug-related arrests that occurred from July 27 through August 5:

On July 27, 2023, at approximately 12:30 pm, Deputies working the A-District stopped a vehicle at the Food Lion in Southern Shores, NC. The passenger of the vehicle had warrants for (F) Trafficking Methamphetamines and (F) PWISD Methamphetamines.

A DCSO K9 arrived and alerted to the presence of a controlled substance. A search of the vehicle and the occupants was conducted and an amount of Methamphetamine, THC Wax and Drug Paraphernalia were located and seized.

Kevin Cozort, 51, of Jarvisburg, NC, was arrested for the warrants and also charged with (F) Possession of Methamphetamine, (F) Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance and (M) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Cozort was given a $37,000 secured bond.***

On August 4, 2023, at approximately 6:10 pm, Deputies working the B-District attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding in the area of US 64 and Buffalo City Rd, East Lake, NC. The vehicle did not stop for the Deputy and continued until it reached Old Ferry Landing Road, East Lake, NC.

The vehicle stopped and the driver jumped and ran from the vehicle. A DCSO K9 arrived and was able to track the driver into the wooded area where they were arrested.

Shabazz Sinqueze St Clar, 33, of Roper, NC, was charged with (F) Flee to Elude, (M) Fail to Yield to Blue Lights and Siren, (M) DWLR, (M) RDO, Speeding 86 / 55, (M) Reckless Driving, (M) Exceeding Safe Speed for Conditions and was served warrants for arrest for Felony and Misdemeanor Probation Violations out of Craven County, NC. St Clair was given a $195,000 secured bond.

US Fish and Wildlife, NC State Highway Patrol and Tyrrell County assisted in this incident.

On August 5, 2023, at approximately 3:38 am, Deputies working the A-District conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Hwy 158 and Colington Road, Kill Devil Hills, NC. During the stop probable cause was established to search the vehicle and an amount of Heroin, Methamphetamine and Drug Paraphernalia was located and seized. The passenger of the vehicle was arrested and taken to Dare County Detention Center where a more thorough search could be conducted on their person. During that search more Methamphetamine and an amount of Fentanyl was located and seized.

Sara Elizabeth Kendall, 36, of Berkeley Springs, WV, was arrested and charged with (F) Possession of Methamphetamine, (F) Possession of Heroin, (F) Possession of a Controlled Substance on a Jail Facility, (F) PWISD Fentanyl and (M) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Kendall was given a $154,000 secured bond.
