Tail Waggin' Tuesday: August 8, 2023 - OBX Today

Are you in search of the perfect fur-ever friend? A new addition to the family, perhaps? OBX Today in partnership with the Outer Banks SPCA is proud to present “Tail Waggin’ Tuesdays.”

Each Tuesday, browse our provided selection of videos and images and follow along as we showcase a variety of pets that are currently awaiting adoption at our local animal shelter.

This week’s featured pets are Frodo, Bilbo, Queenie, Mannie May, and Kovu.

Frodo
Frodo is about a year and a half old. He was a transfer in from another county who no longer had enough room for him. He is very playful and loves to be outside. He jumps right in the pool, walks great on the leash, and is house trained. If someone has another dog and is interested in Frodo we would like to do a dog meet to make sure their energy levels match.

Bilbo
Bilbo was also a transfer in from another county and was at risk for being euthanized due to lack of space. That Animal Shelter is being closed down because they have failed their inspection and have some remodeling to do and are hoping to get all of the animals out before their deadline. Bilbo is the goofest and most loving dog! He has such a fun personality that just makes everyone laugh. He adores attention!

Queenie
Queenie was surrendered into our care with the help of Animal Control. We received a call that several dogs were tied on a chain and living in someone’s back yard. When we responded to the call they refused to let her off the chain so we were able to take her. She has absolutely loved being at the shelter finally having some consistency being able to live inside, with a dog bed, clean water, and food everyday. We love getting her outside and watching her run freely with her toys. Dogs like Queenie remind us of why we choose to do what we do every day and we can’t wait to see her find the forever home she deserves.

Mannie May
Mannie May is about two months old. She is a little nervous but loves playing with her toys. She loves to snuggle and get attention. Mannie May had an infection in her eye and sadly the vet was unable to save it but she is doing well adjusting to life with one eye.

Kovu
Kovu is about a year and a half old. He was brought into our care from Colington Harbor when a person saw him outside but knew he was sweet enough to be someone’s cat! Sadly he was never reclaimed but we are hopeful he will find the home he deserves soon! We do think Kovu could be an outdoor cat again; we just want to make sure someone is taking care of him. If someone is looking for an indoor/outdoor cat who wants to come in and get attention and be fed but also go outside to play and use the bathroom Kovu is your guy!

To adopt Frodo, Bilbo, Queenie, Mannie May, Kovu, or any of the other shelter animals, visit the Outer Banks SPCA Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., or give them a call at 252-475-5620.
