During the course of the traffic stop investigation the driver fled the scene and a vehicle pursuit took place with the male driver and female passenger bailing on foot near the Sandy Point area.
After a foot chase the deputy caught the male driver, Matthew Joseph Walker, 35, of Virginia Beach, VA, in which he was apprehended. Deputies seized multiple prepackaged narcotics, drug paraphernalia, cell phones, and cash.
Matthew was charged with (F) PWISD Methamphetamine, (F) Possess Methamphetamine, (F) Possession of Sch VI CS, (F) PWISD Sch. VI, (F) maintain Vehicle for CS, (M) Possess Drug Paraphernalia, (M) Possess Marijuana Paraphernalia , (M) Resist Public Officer, (M) Flee/Elude Arrest w/MV, (M) No Liability Insurance, (M) Reckless Driving to Endanger, and (M) Expired Registration Tag.
Mr. Walker was given a $95,000 secured bond and turned over to the Currituck Detention Center. Mr. Walker was also wanted on a Felony Fugitive warrant out of Virginia Beach and given an additional $150,000 secured bond.
