The Water’s Edge Village School (WEVS), a free, public K-8 charter school in Corolla, is currently enrolling for the 2023-2024 school year, which begins September 5, 2023.
The school opened in 2012 with 15 students and two teachers, and will begin its 12th year of operation with 7 teachers and room for 46 students, with limited spots still available. WEVS, accredited by the state of NC, is run by the non-profit organization, the Corolla Education Foundation, and follows the NC Standard Course of Study. Charter schools are open to any NC resident, regardless of county or distance from the school.
WEVS prioritizes a child-centered, environment grounded in strong partnerships, leadership principles and an academically challenging, project-based, hands-on curriculum. This empowers students with a sense of social and environmental responsibility while nurturing both body and mind.
