The inaugural event is scheduled for September 29, from 4 to 6 p.m. at COA’s Harris Demonstration Farm located at 320 Creek Road inElizabeth City. Individuals of all ages are invited to watch demonstrations, participate in engaging activities, and enjoy an enriching journey through agricultural practices and sustainability.

Robin Zinsmeister, COA Dean of Workforce Development, Public Services and Career Readiness; Campus Administrator at COA – Edenton-Chowan, shares her enthusiasm, stating, “We are thrilled to open our demonstration farm to the community. We are equally excited to showcase the opportunities available through COA’s Agribusiness Technology Program, fostering the next generation of agribusiness leaders. We believe this event will be a stepping stone for many to venture into a promising educational path, potentially pursuing a degree that shapes the future of agriculture.”

The event will include some of the following activities: planting stations, soil blocking, hydroponics, pollinator gardens, wildlife habitat, raising poultry, and other fun activities.

College of The Albemarle’s “Community Farm Day” aims to foster community bonds and cultivate a deeper appreciation for agriculture and the environment. It is a family-friendly event where everyone is welcome. Children are in for a delightful experience with activities crafted to spark their interest and kindle a love for farming and nature.

We eagerly await your presence at the “COA Community Farm Day.” See you at the farm as we create stronger community ties and nurture a passion for the environment and agriculture.
