Stumpy Point water system pressure advisory no longer in effect - OBX Today

The Dare County Water Department has announced that the 24-hour Water System Pressure Advisory that went into effect for Stumpy Point water customers at approximately 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2023 has been lifted.

Potable water service to Dare County water customers located on Bayview Drive in Stumpy Point was interrupted for approximately 7 hours due to a water main break that occurred near 139 Bayview Drive shortly before 8 a.m.

All repairs to the water main break have since been completed, the water system has been properly flushed, and a bacteriological test that was performed to look for any possible contaminants in the water system has passed. Stumpy Point water customers are no longer advised to boil water before use for human consumption.

The Dare County Water Department appreciates the patience and cooperation that was shown by water customers within the affected area in Stumpy Point as crews worked diligently to make repairs and restore service to the community.
