On Thursday, November 16, 2023, the Albemarle Area United Way will gather to celebrate with our community. The Board of Directors are pleased to host a dinner award program to honor Bill Taylor, a successful businessman who has made it his life’s mission to give back in the Albemarle Area.
“We consider it a privilege to honor Bill Taylor with our fourth Philanthropy Award. He has quietly given dollars to benefit many, especially nonprofits, in our community,” said Bill Blake, Executive Director for the nine-county regional United Way. “Mr. Taylor is a prime example of a man who worked hard his whole life and his been generous with his success throughout the entire journey.” Blake added.
Being a coastal community, the Keel Club has significant meaning. The keel of a ship is the main timber of the ship’s bottom that extends from bow to stern and supports the whole frame. The keel is designed carefully and prepared through the efforts of many people working together for a common purpose. United Way is stronger because of these generous leadership donors.
“Please make plans to join us for an evening of celebration and recognition of our partners who are living the United Way’s mission” stated Tammy Sawyer, Albemarle Area United Way Board Chair. “National Philanthropy Day is November 15th so we felt our timing coincided nicely in terms of honoring Mr. Taylor.”
The evening will include a cocktail reception, musical entertainment and dinner catered by Sagos on the River. Join us at 5:30 pm at the new Seven Sounds Brewing in their historic building on Water Street. Corporate tables and sponsorships are available. Individual tickets are $55 and can be purchased online at aaunitedway.org, by calling 252-333-1510, or visiting the AAUW office at 1413 Parkview Drive, Elizabeth City.
