The Currituck Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Susie Sullivan Rainwater has been appointed to the role of Coastal Council Seat on the Board of Directors. Susie’s extensive experience, unwavering commitment, and deep-rooted ties to the community make her an exceptional addition to the team.

Susie Rainwater is a local, born and raised on the VA/NC State Line. She brings a wealth of experience to her new position, having been an integral part of the local real estate industry for over 32 years. She is a proud member of both the Outer Banks Association of Realtors and the Albemarle Area Association of Realtors. With 13 years of dedicated service as a Senior Sales Associate and a consistent record as one of the Top Producers with Sun Realty, her expertise in the field is unmatched.

Susie’s commitment to the Chamber runs deep, having previously served as an Ambassador for many years and being one of the Founding Board Members. Her professional journey also includes roles as a medical secretary with Beach Medical Care, obtaining her NC Property & Casualty Insurance License while working at Vogedes Insurance Agency, and an exciting period as CEO assisting Dennis Anderson at Grave Digger 4×4. Susie further contributed her skills as a registrar/track official for 18 years with the United States Hot Rod Association/Monster Jam. She has recently retired from this position. She was also part owner/manager of OBX Organics, a 15-acre farm in Engelhard, NC. She lived at Coinjock Marina and worked there part-time until 2015 when she married Ron Rainwater. They currently reside in Jarvisburg, the southern end of the Currituck Mainland.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Susie cherishes her family time, including her son, Morgan Kane, and his wife, Kayla Kane, who have made her a proud grandmother of their two children. She is also a stepmother to Heather (& Gregg) Sheppard and Taylor (& Levi) Davis, both of whom are married and have daughters, Kori & Kree. While her parents, Margaret Elizabeth Harris and Luther Edward Harris, Sr., are no longer with us, Susie’s local family, including her sister, brother, nieces, and nephews, continue to reside in Moyock and Camden County. She also has family members in Powells Point, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, and Greenville, NC.

In her leisure time, Susie enjoys gardening, tending to her chickens, and frequently indulges in arts and crafts. Her dedication to community service and her passion for this region are evident, and she looks forward to contributing her talents to her new role on the Currituck Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
