If you have a passion for local history, a knack for conversation, and like being outdoors, Island Farm may have the perfect job for you; the living history museum and active farm is seeking Historic Interpreters for their 2024 season.
Island Farm is a 10-acre historic site that invites visitors to experience (through an original circa 1847 homeplace and associated outbuildings, working livestock, active gardens, and completely hands-on programming) how Outer Banks families lived before the Civil War.
“Historic Interpreters are the face of Island Farm. They carry out everyday programs, participate in annual cultural events, and help with daily operation of the 1850’s farm,” said Michelle Clower, Site Manager of Island Farm. “Interpreters engage with the visiting public and school groups, bringing to life the daily joys, challenges, and ways of life of the past residents of the farm.”
Outer Banks Conservationists is accepting applications beginning now until Monday, January 29th. For more information, visit obcinc.org/employment/, email michelle@obcinc.org, or call (252) 473-5440.
