The National Weather Service (NOAA) has reported that strong southwesterly winds early this week will bring a threat for soundside coastal flooding to portions of Eastern North Carolina.

Upcoming wind and coastal flooding is expected to begin tonight, Monday, February 12, and extends through Tuesday. Minor to moderate coastal flooding is forecast for soundside locations from the northern Outer Banks southward to Frisco.

Additionally, the NOAA reports that wind gusts of 45-50 mph are likely along the coast and near 40 mph for inland areas. A widespread 2-3″ of rainfall is expected but a flash flood threat remains negligible.
