Celebrate the visual and performing arts on Hatteras Island June 6-7 with an art show, concert, and gallery tour during the 12th Annual Rock The Cape.
The free, family-friendly event will begin on Thursday, June 6 with a full afternoon of art and live music from 2pm to 7pm on the lawn at Kitty Hawk Kites’ Waves Village Resort in Rodanthe.
Artists interested in selling their original, handmade arts and crafts at the Rock The Cape Art Show can find the application online at DareArts.org/rockthecape. The application deadline is Friday, April 12.
The free concert will take attendees on a musical genre tour with a Hatteras musician family jam, a unique blend of traditional and contemporary Celtic music by Nova Scotian duo Cassie and Maggie, and pop, funk and soul tunes by Night Routine.
“Formed in Denver Colorado, Night Routine is the newest band to call the Outer Banks their home,” said Night Routine’s guitarist Tomas Houser. “We honed our unique sound through live performances and studio sessions before releasing our debut album ‘Late for Supper‘ in September of 2023. Please join us for what will be our debut welcome party to the area! We can’t wait to sing, dance, and rock with you!”
On Friday, June 7 Rock The Cape will host the Friday Arts on the Island, which is an all day self-guided tour of the galleries on Hatteras Island. A full schedule of participating galleries and their events will be released soon. The participating galleries will have demonstrations, classes, sales, music, food, drink, and more happening at their locations.
Rock The Cape was started in 2012 as an initiative to celebrate the galleries, artists, and artistic community on Hatteras Island.
