The Next Nags Head Precinct of the Dare County Democratic Party is excited to announce its upcoming meeting on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 6:00 PM. The meeting will take place at the Nags Head Commissioners Board Meeting Room.
In addition to the discussion on local elections, the meeting will feature esteemed speaker Tim Sweeney, Dean of the College of the Albemarle. Sweeney brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge in the field of education, particularly in Dare County.
Tim Sweeney has been a dedicated educator at College of the Albemarle (COA) for over 13 years. Since assuming the role of Dean in August 2014, he has spearheaded numerous initiatives aimed at enhancing educational opportunities for local students and residents. Prior to his current position, Sweeney served as the Division Chair for Developmental Math and English, showcasing his commitment to academic excellence.
Notably, Sweeney’s extensive experience includes serving as the Director of Transitional Studies from January 2011 to August 2014. In this capacity, he oversaw vital programs related to high school GED, ESL, and English as a Second Language (ESL), demonstrating his dedication to fostering inclusive learning environments.
Before joining COA, Sweeney served as a Principal in various educational institutions, including An Achievable Dream, Heritage High School, and Nottside Middle School. His tenure in these roles underscores his steadfast commitment to educational leadership and student success.
As an advocate for COA and its Dare County campus, Tim Sweeney tirelessly works to promote the advancement of education in the community. His efforts have been instrumental in advocating for the relocation of the Dare County campus to new facilities along Highway 64 in Manteo, further expanding access to educational resources for local residents.
