BISSELL Pet Foundation is prompting a national call for adoption by hosting its Spring National Empty the Shelters™ event from May 1 – 15, 2024. This effort has helped more than 226,000 pets find loving homes, making “Empty the Shelters” the largest funded adoption event in the country.
An average of 1,225 pets are adopted each day of these quarterly national events. During each nationwide event, BISSELL Pet Foundation sponsors reduced adoption fees so shelters can charge $50 or less to take deserving pets from kennels to the couches of loving homes.
Among the 410 animal shelters participating across 43 states this spring is the Outer Banks SPCA. To review addition shelters in the surrounding area, click here to access BISSELL’s interactive map.
“The nation’s animal shelters are facing a capacity crisis and need your help now. Adoptions have slowed while a surge in owner surrenders due to families facing economic and housing challenges has left tens of thousands of highly adoptable pets desperate to find homes,” said Cathy Bissell, Founder of BISSELL Pet Foundation. “Our Spring National Empty the Shelters will support the adoption of thousands of pets across the country, helping shelters in this critical time. Opening your home to a shelter pet saves a life and creates lifesaving space to help another pet in need.”
