On July 3, 2024, at 7 a.m., Surf or Sound Realty in conjunction with Barrier Island Group will present their inaugural four-mile “fun run” fittingly titled “4 for the 4th.” Kick off America’s birthday with a patriotic jaunt on Hatteras Island through beautiful Kinnakeet Shores in Avon. A 1776 dash for children will also be held.
Publicly inviting all local or visiting runners and even walkers of any age or fitness, all registered attendees will receive an eco-friendly cup for use on the course, an icy cold towel at the finish, a finisher’s medal, performance t-shirt, and a delicious breakfast/post race party.
Registration for adults is priced at $55, and children at $15 who compete in the 1776 dash, estimated to be about a third of a mile. The run will begin at 41184 Kinakeet Blvd. located in Avon.
