Community Health Needs Assessment Survey Open - OBX Today

The Healthy Carolinians of the Outer Banks, in partnership with the Dare County Department of Health & Human Services and Outer Banks Health, invite community members to participate in the 2024 Dare County Community Health Needs Assessment by completing a short survey. The purpose of this survey is to gather feedback about a variety of topics, ranging from access to care, mental health and substance use to food insecurity, transportation and other key issues facing our county. Survey results, along with data gathered from focus group and secondary data, will help inform how local agencies can work to improve the health and well-being of Dare County residents.

“Community participation is key in identifying unique health needs. We are hopeful to see wide participation in completing the survey from throughout our community to help gather as much input as possible on the most pressing issues. We are grateful to those who have taken the time to complete the survey and encourage anyone who has not yet done so to please do so,” said Sheila F. Davies, PhD, Director, Dare County Department of Health & Human Services.

The survey is available in both English and Spanish and all responses to this optional survey are anonymous. This is not a research survey and it will take less than 10 minutes to complete. Dare County residents ages 18 and over can complete this survey by following this link: https://survey.sogolytics.com/survey1.aspx?k=RQsRXTPYYsSQsPsPsP&lang=0

“It is important for Outer Banks residents to know that we really do use the results of the Community Health Needs Assessment to make a lasting difference in the health and quality of life for residents and visitors. Aging on the Outer Banks was an issue highlighted in the 2016 Assessment. Based on these findings, Outer Banks Health Chief Nursing Officer Marcia Bryant led the charge to transform our hospital into a Dementia Friendly Hospital – the very first in North Carolina! I encourage everyone who is able to complete the survey and be part of making a real impact here in Dare County,” expressed Amy Montgomery, Senior Administrator of Operations at Outer Banks Health Hospital.
