The Southern Shores Police Department would like to welcome Tucker Melton and Sophia Wright, the newest officers to our Law Enforcement Family.
Officer Tucker Melton is the first officer that was hired through our new “recruit” program. With no previous law enforcement experience Melton was hired in December of 2023 and sent through Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) in January of 2024. Melton graduated BLET in May of 2024 and is now in his training phase.
Wright was hired in July of 2024 and comes to us from Elizabeth City Police Department. Wright comes to us with over 5 years of experience and training. Wright is also a certified EMT and training officer.
We welcome them both and wish them success in their careers with our town. If you see them around town, please welcome them to our community!
