Four from Maryland face felony drug charges after traffic stop in Currituck County - OBX Today

On August 20, 2024, at approximately 7:24 p.m., a Currituck County Sheriff’s Office deputy made a traffic stop on a traffic violation with a potentially impaired driver in the 100 block of Caratoke Hwy.

Following a brief interaction with the driver, deputies established probable cause to search the vehicle. The search revealed substantial quantities of narcotics and a concealed firearm. Subsequent to the search, all four occupants of the vehicle were arrested and brought before the magistrate.

 Ms. Shannon Thrasher, 38, of Baltimore, MD, the driver, was charged with:

  • Felony Trafficking in Cocaine (x3)
  • Felony Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for Controlled Substances
  • Misdemeanor Simple Possession of Schedule IV Controlled Substances
  • Misdemeanor Simple Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substances
  • Misdemeanor Simple Possession of Schedule III Controlled Substances
  • Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Ms. Thrasher was issued a secured bond of $250,000 and is currently incarcerated at the Currituck County Detention Center.

Mr. Travis Dukes, 37, of Pikesville, MD, the front seat passenger, was charged with:

  • Felony Possession of Cocaine

Mr. Dukes was issued a secured bond of $100,000 and is currently incarcerated at the Currituck County Detention Center.

Mr. Reginald Dennis, 55, of Glencoe, MD, the rear seat passenger, was charged with:

  • Felony Trafficking in Cocaine (x3)
  • Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Distribute Cocaine
  • Misdemeanor Simple Possession of Schedule IV Controlled Substances
  • Misdemeanor Simple Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substances
  • Misdemeanor Simple Possession of Schedule III Controlled Substances
  • Misdemeanor Carrying a Concealed Weapon
  • Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana (up to ½ ounce)

Mr. Dennis was issued a secured bond of $250,000 and is currently incarcerated at the Currituck County Detention Center.

Ms. Laleh Vint, 41, of Baltimore, MD, the other rear seat passenger, was charged with:

  • Felony Possession of CocaineMisdemeanor Possession of
  • Drug Paraphernalia
  • Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia

Ms. Vint was issued a secured bond of $150,000 and is currently incarcerated at the Currituck County Detention Center.
