Drug arrest made in Colington Harbor following K-9 alert - OBX Today

On September 4, 2024, at approximately 11:33 p.m., deputies from the A-District conducted a routine patrol in the Public Vehicular Area of Colington Harbor Marina and encountered a female sitting in a vehicle. During the encounter a K-9 was deployed and it alerted to the presence of an illegal controlled substance.

A search of the individual’s belongings revealed a quantity of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, which was subsequently seized.

The individual, identified as Cheryl Hightman, 44, Colington, NC, has been arrested and charged with Felony Possession of Methamphetamine and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Hightman has been issued a $5,000 secured bond.
