Check point leads to driving while impaired, drug Arrest - OBX Today

On September 8th, 2024, at approximately 6:43 p.m., Officer from the Southern Shores Police Department conducted a check point on S. Dogwood Trail at Mallard Cove Loop. During this check point officers established probable cause to arrest a driver for Driving While Impaired. Upon further investigation officers seized Cocaine and Drug Paraphernalia. 

Sunny Berle, 40, of Southern Shores, NC, was charged with Driving While Impaired, Felony Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. 

Berle was transported to the Dare County Detention Center and placed under 4,000 secured bond.
