The Kitty Hawk Police Department is warning citizens of a recent scam involving phishing emails.
The Department says a number of these have been reported in the area in which criminals are impersonating employees and targeting employers by attempting to get the business to change their direct deposit information.
Kitty Hawk Police is reminding individuals do not accept emails from addresses you don’t know. Confirm with that employee in person if they are requesting changes be made to any banking or benefits.
