The Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge will host a beach cleanup event this Thursday, October 17, 2024, from 10 a.m. until noon.
Those interested in participating should meet at the parking area on NC Highway 12 north of the Jughandle Bridge, 6 miles south of the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge Visitors Center. You are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes, sturdy shoes, and work gloves. If you have them, also bring a 5 gallon bucket and/or grabber.
A brief safety talk will be given before heading onto the beaches to pick up trash wherever it’s needed most.
